Be like the sun: Shine

She was like the sun,

She knew her place in the world –

She would shine again regardless

of all the storms and changeable weather

She wouldn’t adjust her purpose

for things that pass.

The Praying Mantis aka Mantis religiosa. They are Invertebrates and Carnivores. Their average life span is about 1 year.

I was walking around my family’s property and spotted this baby Praying Mantis on a Peony.

There were about 9 in this small area.

I went back about 2 weeks later and could only find two.

They grew a lot. They are fascinating creatures who are great for gardens.

A visit to the Opthalmologist

Opthalmology is a branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology and diseases of the eyeball.

An ophthalmologist is a specialist in medical and surgical eye problems.

Since ophthalmologists perform operations on eyes, they are both surgical and medical specialists.

I spent almost 4 hours at the Opthamologist having various tests completed so I kept myself busy photographing the equipment because I find it fascinating.

Friend: Daily Post Prompt

She is by far the bestest friend I’ve ever had. I am not ashamed to admit that my best, most loyal friend was furry. She passed away a little over a year ago and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss her. She was loyal, loving and always kept my secrets. I can honestly say that I have never had all of those qualities in a human friend. Ever.

Rainbow Knockout Roses

The original and Rainbow variety of Knockout Roses were named as “All-America Rose Selections” in 2000 and 2007.

Knockout Roses are just like any other rose. One of those ways is that they do best with no less than six to eight hours of sunlight every day.

These rose bushes get pretty large, ranging from three to five feet tall and wide. Some sources claim they can reach as high as eight feet if not pruned.

Detonate: The daily post prompt

I cannot imagine how it must’ve felt to be so near to the cannon’s when they were being detonated.

To detonate a cannon, even one, would be a loud and intimidating experience. The Battle of Antietam was one of the bloodiest of the Civil War.
